HYMN PLAYING HELPS

BOOKS / SOFTWARE

The books and software listed below are helpful in developing hymn playing techniques. They are available from the BYU Bookstore in Provo, Utah in the music sections of either the text floor or the general book area.

· OrganTutor Organ 101 - Cook, Don. Provo, UT: Brigham Young University, 2006. The CD-ROM installs the tutorial on Pentium IBM PC-compatible computers. The computer tutorial and workbook are available together or online at the BYU Bookstore (Religious Books) for $67.50 (+s/h).

· The OrganTutor Workbook (formerly Organ Essentials) - Cook, Don. Spanish Fork, UT: Ard, 2006. $17.50 (+s/h).

· Three-Stave Hymn Accompaniments – Cundick, Robert and Don Cook. Order through the BYU Creative Works catalog. Use the search words “three-stave”.

· Easy Organ Hymn Settings - Cook, Don. Orem, UT: Jackman Music, 1992.

· Hymn Studies for Organists - Belnap, Parley L. Rev. ed. American Fork, UT: Leland, 1992.

· Nine Hymn Studies - Croft, D. Kim. Orem, UT: Pioneer Music Press, 1986. (Bookstore)

· Interpretive Hymn Playing: A Course of Study for Latter-day Saint Organists
(CD); Hatch, Verena; Provo, Utah; 2004. The CD is available for $3.00 from Laura Pettersson, editor.
